Stuffed

Tobias and Carla are two different people. Neither of them knows the other, nor will they. They are two unconnected individuals… connected only by one thing, one company, one situation. At AKEA…

Tobias sighed, wearing the standard AKEA uniform all employees wore. This was his third day on the job, and so far, he disliked every moment of it. He wasn't even sure how he got the job, but he knew it had something to do with his friend Keegan. He had been building a case against them for quite a while… no doubt they were either trying to get on his good side by having Tobias trying to convince him what a great place it was, or getting to him through Tobias. Or, it was all a coincidence and Tobias was lucky to have a job at the largest commercial chain in the world.

Carla walked into the store, looking around. She had heard about how big AKEA was, but had never really believed it, until now. She walked through the various departments, looking for the toy section. She knew she would find what she was looking for there, if it wasn't there, she didn't know where to go. Like her fiancé said, if AKEA doesn't have it, no one does. She walked for a while, eventually finding the toy section. She looked around at the various toys and wondered how a giant chain like this could be put together. Finally, she noticed an employee nearby and walked up to him. His nametag read "Tobias".

"Excuse me," She said. "But I'm looking for some stuffing, I'm working on a project and I need something to stuff a pillow with."

"Yeah, we have that," Tobias said. "I just… uh, don't know where it is." He looked around, then spotted a computer. "Ah, if you follow me, I can find where it is for you," Tobias said, going to the computer. Typing a few things out on the computer, he said, "It's in aisle 48. That's… about half a block that way," He said, pointing behind them. Carla blinked.

"Half a block?" She asked.

"Yeah, this is just Aisle 19… sorry," he shrugged.

"No, it's fine, I'm just surprised…" Carla shook her head. "It just… that's really big."

"It's AKEA," Tobias pointed out. "If it wasn't huge, then we wouldn't be able to sell… everything."

"Well, thanks for your help," Carla said, starting to walk towards Aisle 48.

"Have a good day!" Tobias called after her. Literally seconds after Carla left, there was a small commotion. Tobias headed over towards where a display fell over and a ripping sound could be heard. Tobias sighed. That was never a good sign. One of his bosses walked up to him with a handful of what looked like small plush animals in her arms.

"Tobias, can you go into the back and restuff these things for me? They've been torn in some places. Just use the machine in the back, and make sure to read the instructions before you do anything," She warned him.

"Sure thing, Anna," He said, taking the stuffed animals, noticing that bits of their insides were falling to the floor. "I'll be right back with them." Making sure that no more stuffing fell out, he hurried into the back, looking for the machine that Anna had told him to look for. It was nearly impossible to miss, it was rather large, about the size of an industrial compacter, and had a large sign reading "Stuffing Machine" spray-painted on it. He sighed, walking up to it and putting the stuffed animals into a cart, reading the directions on the side.

1. Place items on the conveyor.

2. Press START

"Seems simple enough," Tobias agreed, placing a cat plushie on the conveyor, noticing a large hole in its stitching. He pressed start, the conveyor starting up and the plush disappeared into the machine. He waited for a few minutes as the machine hummed and whined, and the plush reappeared in a small slot, completely repaired and restuffed. "Wow," Tobias said, picking it up. It even felt warm, like it had gone through the dryer. Tobias then placed a wolf plushie on the conveyor belt and pressed the start button. It started up, the plush vanishing into the machine and it began to whine and shake. It stopped, and a red light started to flash. Worried, Tobias looked at the dashboard. The warning light read "Warning: Maintenance Needed: Main Chute Blocked." He looked around.

"Tobias! What's taking so long with the machine?" Anna shouted from the entrance.

"Coming!" He shouted back. He looked around frantically. If it was just a block in the machine, all there was to do was just pull… whatever it was out of the main chute. He knew it was a horrible idea, but he might be fired, or something. Tobias looked at the entrance of the machine and sighed, climbing on top of the belt and climbing into the machine.

It was dark, and cramped. He continued moving, slowly, a few inches at a time. He needed to get in, unblock the machine, and get out.

Little did Tobias know, but Anna had come by to check on him. Getting frustrated and understandably angry that Tobias was not at his post, she took over, ignoring the warning light and pressing "START". The machine started up, rumbling around Tobias. He froze.

"No!" He shouted. "There's someone in here, stop the… mmm!" Something was shoved roughly into his mouth, and the chamber he was in was too small for him to move to remove it. There was a grinding noise and something began to enter Tobias' mouth. He screamed as he realized it was stuffing. Trying to block it from entering him, he choked, the stuffing being pushed violently down his throat and into his stomach. Tears welled up in his eyes as he realized he was going to be smothered from the inside. Seemingly endless seconds passed and the stuffing continued to force itself into him, and he wondered why he wasn't feeling the effects. Surely his stomach could only hold so much? He lifted a hand and felt his stomach, eyes widening in horror. His stomach was bulging, the stuffing easily felt inside of him, and his skin… it felt soft… like fur.

His face began to stretch out and he let out another scream, feeling himself change and grow as the stuffing filled every inch of him, replacing tissue and muscle and bone. His body expanded slightly. Metal arms reached out and tore the remains of Tobias' clothes off of him. He whined as he felt his vocal cords freeze up, and he fell silent. The tube that fed the stuffing pulled out, leaving a gaping hole. Two arms with a needle and thread pulled the hole together, giving Tobias a permanent smile. He blinked for the last time as his eyes turned to glass, leaving him staring forever forward.

The conveyor pushed Tobias, who was still in a crouching position on all fours, towards the end of the machine. Plates pushed down on him, squishing his soft plush body. He could feel something happening, the plates and the camber growing around him. Finally the plates stopped, and he moved on.

Two more arms reached down and placed something around Tobias' neck. He struggled to move his eyes and look, but he couldn't. Whatever it was would remain a mystery. He felt a stinging in his ear as another arm pierced it, placing a tag on it. Finally, he moved on, the light blinding as he exited the machine.

Anna stood in front of him. He mentally gasped: she was huge! What had happened? She reached down and picked him up as if he was nothing but a… well, he supposed he really was nothing but a toy, now.

Anna read the small tag hanging from Tobias' ear.

"Hi! I'm Tobias!" It read. Anna froze. Could this be her missing employee? She held the small wolf plushie at arm's length, then noticed the collar around its neck. The small yellow tag was labelled "Tobias". Anna sighed.

"You should have really asked for our help," She said to him, knowing who and what it was now. "But, at least you can help…" She carried him outside. Tobias hoped that she was taking him somewhere, maybe to the manager of the store? There had to be a way to turn him back!

Anna stopped and placed him forward, facing another shelf full of toys.

"Enjoy your new life, Tobias," Anna said, turning and leaving him there. Tobias screamed in his head: he was being left on the shelf to be sold to some random stranger on the street!

Hours passed like that, Tobias struggling to move, but only staring straight ahead. Kids came by and picked him up, playing with him momentarily, but in the end they or their parents put him back on his space on the shelf. He was starting to give up on the idea of ever being human again… when a familiar face entered his sight.

"Ohmigod he's so cute!" Kelly exclaimed, pulling Tobias off the shelf and squeezing him. Having no bones or any discernable nervous system, the squeeze felt comforting and didn't hurt. With elation, he hoped that out of everyone, Kelly would buy him. Then she could bring him to Keegan would notice the tag in his ear, and he could be turned back!

"Miss Kelly," Said another familiar voice. "You know what Master Keegan would tell you. You have enough plushies already."

"Yeah… but… aww, he's so cute…" Kelly held him out. "You take a look, just hold him!" Tobias gave a mental gasp of shock: standing in front of him was a purple short haired girl. She wore a short skirt that showed off her legs and a black and white tank top. Out of anyone, he knew she would know what was going on, for it was his clone/twin sister, Ezzy.

"I'll have to agree with Master Keegan on this one," She said. "You've got enough, you can't even find your bed!"

"Well… then you buy him!" Kelly grinned, holding Tobias out to Ezzy. "You buy him, and then give him to me as a gift!"

"I… I don't think I should," She began.

"Please?" Kelly asked, acting cute. Ezzy sighed and took Tobias from her arms, petting his fur lightly.

"He is rather cute," Ezzy agreed, taking the tag and reading it. She froze. Tobias was stuck staring at her breasts, but he knew that she had made the connection. "I'm buying him," Ezzy said in a soft tone. "Right now. We have to get him to Master Keegan right away."

Yes! Tobias thought. She knows who I am! She knows that I'm Tobias!

"I think that he would enjoy this toy quite a bit," Ezzy said, amused. Tobias felt shocked. She didn't know? She just thought he would make a… a good gift? "I think he and Tobias would find it quite amusing that this is named after him," She giggled. No! Tobias shouted. No, Ezzy – it's me! Tobias! Please, find some way to return me to normal… Keegan! Keegan will have to know, he'll know! He was desparate, panicking… and Ezzy's petting was calming him down… They carried him to the checkout, and Tobias hoped that he would be noticed. He didn't want to end up as just a discarded toy… but, even with that worst case scenario, Kelly would take great care of him, as would Ezzy. No matter what would happen… he was going home.

Carla sat down with the skins of the plushies around her, taking the bag of stuffing and preparing to stuff her new toys. As she did, the bag fell onto its side, and she picked it up, staring at the back where the warning labels were.

Warning: Do not ingest. Untested reality shifts or transformations may occur.

Carla blinked. What kind of warning was that? That seemed rather… She stopped. Rather what? She thought for a few moments. If what she had heard of AKEA, and what this warning told her, then…

"Oh God, I am so going to regret this," Carla muttered to herself and closed her eyes, gathering up the courage to go through with it. Finally, she pulled out a handful of stuffing and placed it into her own mouth. It tasted horrible, at first, but as she swallowed it down, she discovered that it didn't taste that bad. And so began a cycle of inserting the stuffing, grimacing, swallowing, and relaxing. Repeat.

After what seemed like hours, but was only about fifteen minutes of stuffing the padding inside of her, she felt something begin to happen. Her stomach was changing, becoming looser, expanding. She could feel a strange sensation in her legs, sort of like the beginning of a cramp, or pins and needles. She kept stuffing herself, not being able to stop. Carla didn't know why, it was obviously damaging her body… but damn, it just felt so good, being filled up from the inside. She drew her legs up, pulling them close to her body, feeling them change, some sort of… weird feeling moving up into her chest. It felt good. Carla closed her eyes and sighed as she swallowed another handful of stuffing. The next time she opened her eyes, she gasped, almost choking up the stuffing. Her legs were gone! Her body just ended at the waist, which was now slightly pink, her pants easily sliding off of her.

Carla pulled herself up into what would be a sitting position, pulling off her shirt as she saw pink fuzz start to grow along her body. "Oh god…" She said weakly, finding it difficult to breathe. She wanted to throw up all the stuffing, but quite obviously it was too late, the fuzz was spreading across her arms now, and she was starting to lose movement in her fingers. She gave a small scream as her fingers and hands formed into mitts, arms outstretched to her sides. "I take it back!" She decided, feeling her voice start to vanish as her throat filled up with stuffing, silencing her. Her mouth disappeared into the pink fuzz, and she closed her eyes as she felt them vanish as well.

A pink upper torso lay on the couch where Carla was, unmoving. Carla tried to struggle inside her plush prison, somehow being able to see and hear, and feel. However, she couldn't move, she couldn't even scratch her nose. All she could do was sit there… and wait.

And wait she did. Three hours later, she heard her fiancé arrive, walking in through the front door. Carla became elated; Daniel would know what to do with her! Daniel whistled, putting his keys on the table and noticing the small body pillow on the couch. Confused, he walked over and noticed the bag of AKEA stuffing on the floor. His eyes widened.

"Oh, Carla," he said, sitting down on the couch. "You didn't…" He picked her up and held her. "This is you, isn't it?" Carla felt relieved; now that he knew that the pillow was her, they could work on reversing this! Couldn't they?

Daniel walked over to the phone. "You're lucky," He said. "I used to work for AKEA. I know who to call about this." He picked it up, paused, then put it down. "Actually," He decided. "Since you went through all of this trouble, I figure, why not keep you like this?" Carla cried out – she wanted to know what it was like, yeah, and she wanted to find out what would happen if she ate the stuffing, true, but she didn't want to be stuck like this forever!

"Just for tonight," Daniel grinned, hugging her. Carla felt a sense of relief; if that was anyone else, she would've smacked them. In fact, she was considering doing that as soon as she returned to normal. Daniel carried her to the bedroom, setting Carla down on the bed. "I'll be right back," Daniel said, going to the bathroom to get ready for bed. Carla just sat, staring.

She could get used to this.

Tobias would be turned back after three days of being trapped as a wolf plushie, Ezzy recognizing and finally realizing that the plush she had bought was indeed her missing brother. Keegan would turn him back, albeit a little worse for wear in the long run. He would be giving a month's paid vacation plus compensation from AKEA, who preferred to keep the whole situation hush-hush.

Daniel would contact his peers at AKEA the next morning, and although there were quite a few delays, one week after turning into a body pillow, Carla would return to normal. She decided that the whole experience was worth it, although she learned her lesson not to eat things that she wouldn't normally.

AKEA continues to be the top furniture and accessory chain in the world, despite their reality-shifting products.
