            For Buddy, costume shopping was always a pain. It didn’t matter when or what the occasion was. It was a constant annoyance for him. But, he was going to a costume party tonight, and the only requirement was that the costume had to be something guests wouldn’t have normally chosen. This was why he was in a costume store that he had found, browsing things that he didn’t want to be looking at – mainly, women’s costumes. It was the first thing he thought as something he wouldn’t choose before, and it seemed the easiest. However the majority of the costumes were really skimpy, and that wouldn’t do. Sighing, he turned and was about to leave, when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye.

            It was an orange bodysuit in the discount section among many other costumes. He held it up and blinked. “Oh, wow,” he said. It was a costume created after one of his favorite characters in a television show – Applejack, from My Little Pony. He smiled. This was perfect… no one would guess that he would dress up as a pony, and it was something he didn’t mind. He carried it to the checkout and paid for it, smiling. Mission accomplished.

            Once he got home, he unpacked it from the bag he carried it in and laid it out. It was complete, and looked like it had been detailed to the last stitching to be as close to the character as possible. Why it was in the discount section Buddy didn’t know, but all he knew was that it was his now, and that’s what mattered. He unzipped the back and decided to give it a shot. He stripped down to his underwear and slipped inside the costume. The inside was smooth and warm and didn’t seem to stretch or feel too tight. He pulled it up his legs, noticing that his feet were being pushed up into an arch to allow for “hooves”. He shrugged. Some sacrifices had to be made. Before getting the rest on, he picked up the Applejack mask and slid it over his head. He looked at the mirror and smiled. He could barely tell that his face was underneath it.

            “No time to dawdle,” he said in his best Applejack impression. His smile widened as he realized it sounded pretty authentic. Maybe he should go into voice acting, he figured as he pulled the rest of the costume on. The hooves that covered his hands made his fingers useless, so pulling the zipper up was a bit of a chore. It got done, however, leaving him completely inside the Applejack costume. He had about three hours to kill for the part, so he walked around, getting used to the costumes feel and look. It was very weird to see Applejack in the mirror instead of his normal reflection, but he got used to it quickly.

            After about an hour of just relaxing inside the suit, he decided that enough was enough and that he’d change at the party. He reached behind him, trying to feel for the zipper, when he felt a tightening around his shoulders and legs. He crouched, wincing as the tightness increased all over his body. He fell onto all fours, panting and groaning as he felt himself get continuously restricted all over. He stumbled, trying to get to a phone, where he collapsed.

            When he woke up, he was still in the costume… or so he thought.

            “What in tarnation happened?” He asked, not noticing that he was speaking in the voice of Applejack. He stood up… then blinked, confused when he couldn’t get up onto his feet, stuck on all fours. He looked down and gasped noticing that he was still in the Applejack costume. He scrambled to find the zipper on his back, but couldn’t find it. He went to the mirror, not noticing that he was running quite well on all fours. He turned and glanced behind himself in the mirror and gave a gasp.

            “The dang zipper’s gone!” He exclaimed. It was that crushing realization. “Holy crow, I’m Applejack!” He exclaimed. The next few minutes were spent trying to pull the “costume” away. He tugged on the blonde mane, the muzzle, the tail, everything in a frantic attempt to prove himself wrong. After many painful shouts and trials later, he… rather, she gave up. “Great,” She muttered. “Just what I needed.” Sighing, she sat on the couch and tried to think this out.

            Really, though, she eventually reasoned. Was it that bad? Sure, things would be awkward now, but she was now a real version of a well-known character… surely she could find a job like this… maybe farming! Apple farming! She grinned. She could definitely get used to this.

            Confidently, she grabbed the cowboy hat that had came with the costume and tossed it expertly up onto her head.

            “And I know just what I need to do!” she said proudly, opening the door and hurrying out. She wanted to get back to the costume store to find if they had anymore MLP costumes… if she was going to go at this, she didn’t want to be doing it alone.
